Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The athlete was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the passing of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the sports world shared sympathy for the fighter in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
