'Living a Nightmare': Families of Missing Teenagers Await Information After Alpine Inferno

The families of teens unaccounted for after a devastating inferno at a bar in a Swiss winter destination are confronting an agonising period of uncertainty for official news and appealing for information about their family members via social media.

The fire ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Verified video depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.

Officials have stated that it could take an extended period to formally name the those who perished of the disaster, which killed 40 people and hurt another over a hundred. Officials noted on Friday that 113 of the those hurt have been accounted for, with the process ongoing to locate the other six.

In the waiting period, loved ones have been using social media to request clues about their friends who were in attendance that evening.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his parent.

The resident of a town near the city, told a publication that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the hospital, while his father did the equivalent search in the capital, but could not find him.

"This is a living nightmare, a nightmare. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. It's horrific," she stated.

She explained that some of his friends had been found with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they endured a terrifying ordeal."

The Italian government has said that a number of of its nationals have not been located.

Additional Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is likewise among the missing. His parent explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with a group and found himself at the bar.

"A close friend told me they fled after the fire started and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he lost sight of him," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a identifiable piece of jewelry.

One of his teachers commented, "I've always been struck by his kindness and smile, alongside great responsibility. Every time offer to get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss citizenship but lives permanently in Switzerland, was also present on that night, according to sources.

Her sibling has shared an urgent request on social media, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the 15-year-old or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the case.
